Staff and parent company management are remaining tight lipped about the demise of the Dubbo Go-Lo store.
Shocked employees were told their jobs were gone on Tuesday afternoon and banners went up yesterday promoting a closing down sale offering 30 per cent price reductions store-wide.
The Daily Liberal understands Go-Lo Dubbo is scheduled to close on August 8. Sister store Sam’s Warehouse will continue to trade.
Employment opportunities for up to four local Go-Lo personnel may be available at Sam’s Warehouse. The rest of the staff will be looking for work.
The Daily Liberal has been told Go-Lo will continue to receive small quantities of stock. Fifty per cent price reductions will be offered from July 13. Prices will drop by 80 per cent from August 3.
The future of Go-Lo, Sam’s Warehouse and Crazy Clarks has been under a cloud since mid-January this year following the collapse of Australian Discount Retail (ADR).
Financially troubled ADR was recently sold and is now operated by privately owned Australian company Retail Adventures - now ranked as the nation’s largest discount variety retailer with more than 380 stores and over 10,000 staff.
