A man charged over a series of drive-by shootings that happened in Dubbo five years ago has been committed to trial at Dubbo District court.
Darrell John Wright appeared in Dubbo local court yesterday via audio visual link from Wellington Correctional
Centre.
He was charged with three counts of firing a firearm at a dwelling with disregard to safety, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, supply/knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a
prohibited drug.
The court heard that the charge of possessing an unauthorised pistol had previously been withdrawn.
For each firearm offence, Magistrate Hamilton
committed Wright to trial at Dubbo’s District Court on February 25.
Wright’s solicitor informed the court that no plea has been entered for the drug related charges. and
The solicitor also requested an adjournment from the court until February 11.
A bail application for Wright was not applied for and
therefore refused by Magistrate Hamilton.
Magistrate Hamilton adjourned the matter until February 11.
Police have been investigating the shootings on a residence in Wheeler’s Lane and the clubhouse of bikie gang, Rebels since they occurred in November 2004.
Another residence, in Mogriguy was then targeted in January the next year.
The arrest of Wright follows earlier arrests in relation to the incidents.
