Ticket sales signal theatre’s nearer

03 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
The opening of the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) is getting closer with tickets on sale and the launch of a new website.

All 24 shows of the theatre’s first six months are now on sale with the website providing on-line ticket sales.

Dubbo mayor Allan Smith said the beginning of ticket sales marked an important milestone in the journey towards the opening of the DRTCC in April.

“The start of ticket sales and the launch of the website is the best milestone yet given that more than 350 season subscriptions had been sold,” he said.

Mayor Smith announced the sale of tickets to the new season of shows yesterday.

“I am very pleased to announce that as of today 1 March 2010, tickets are on sale for all 24 shows in the first six months of the theatre being open,” he said.

There will be a further five week period of commissioning, training of staff and testing systems before the DRTCC opens in mid April.

DRTCC manager Alan Youngson advised that a temporary box office had been established on the ground floor of the Dubbo City council administration building and is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Mr Youngson said he was expecting high demand for tickets and asked the public to be patient if they experienced delays in processing ticket sales.

However, he was certain the public would be impressed by the new website.

“We are sure people will be impressed with the colourful and dynamic website,” he said.

The website is www.drtcc.com.au.

Don't try to copy & paste the web address given. The full stop at the end shouldn't be there! That said, I am looking forward to returning to Dubbo for the opening, and for future shows.
