The stars of Dubbo will take to the stage on August 1 for Fantasy Dancesport’s annual Dancing with the Stars challenge, which aims to raise much-needed money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Over the past few weeks ten local ‘celebrities’ have been put to the test, pairing up with local dancesport champions in preparation for the big gala night to be held at the Civic Centre.
The stars have also been video taped throughout their practise to add to the humour and fun on the night, with snippets of their lessons to be shown on a big screen before their final routine.
Among the celebrities is former NRL football player David Peachey who has only had one lesson to date, but plans to ramp up his practise over the coming weeks leading up to the big night.
He said he agreed to take part in the night to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“My first lesson was very interesting,” he said.
“I don’t think I will go too well, I think my nerves and two left feet might bring me unstuck on the night.”
Fantasy Dancesport director and teacher Kim Tongue along with her daughter Cassie are coordinating the event and have been working tirelessly with the stars to ensure they’re all up to speed with their routines on the night.
Mrs Tongue expects the evening will meet all expectations with performances from professional dancesport champions and students also set down for the night.
Tickets for the August 1 event are selling well, but plenty more are available from Fantasy Dancesport in Mount Batten Drive.
